Biography
Ildikó Kovács (b. 1962) is one of Australia's leading contemporary abstract painters, renowned for her dynamic compositions of colour, line and gesture. Kovács has developed a distinctive visual language that is inspired by the Australian landscape, as well as European, Indigenous and modernist traditions. Held in the collections of major institutions including the National Gallery of Australia and the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Kovács is also recipient of one of Australia’s most prestigious art awards, the Bulgarie Art Prize (2015).
