Lewis Morley was a Hong Kong–born Australian photographer best known for his incisive and elegantly composed portraiture that came to define the cultural atmosphere of post-war London. Working primarily in the 1950s and 1960s, Morley developed a refined photographic style marked by clarity, directness and psychological acuity, producing portraits of leading writers, actors and public figures that remain among the most recognisable images of the period. His celebrated photograph of Christine Keeler, taken in 1963, has become an enduring icon of twentieth-century visual culture, emblematic of both the glamour and political tensions of the era.
