St Kilda' forms part of a small and rare group of important paintings Sidney Nolan created at Heide in 1942 depicting scenes of St Kilda and Heidelberg. These pictures were the precursors to the artist's Wimmera images painted while the young Sargent Nolan was stationed at Dimboola during 1943 and 1944.
